indellible green

In August 2017 I completed an AIR program at Studio Kura in Kyushu Southern Japan.  Based in the rural community of Ikisan I produced and exhibited a range of mostly watercolour works, resulting from my investigation of Studio Kura’s immediate environment. Using loose brush work and line, the works render the encroachment of the densely wooded surrounding hills onto Ikisan’s carefully tended rice fields and market gardens. Due to the application of multiple hues of green paint staining the canvas and portraying an optimistic view that the environment will prevail; the exhibition was titled ‘indelible green’.
